I've run 245/45R16 rears on OEM AP1s... who makes a 245/50? I'm sure it would fit, just with the usual caveats about speedometer/ABS/VSA issues.

They are going to be 1" taller than stock. I would not recommend it.

245/50/16 has the same diameter as the 275/40/17 (per tire calculator) and I've seen people in the forum using 275's, pardon my asking but why won't you recommend it?

People run 275/40's as race tires- they're not concerned about speedometer accuracy, ABS function, or VSA function, all of which are negatively impacted by oversized tires.

Propper AP1 rear size is 225/50-16... The sticky about 245's is outdated and incorrect. THere are 245's out there but the best tires are only availibl in 225, they are better by a large enough margin that the car has FAR more grip with good 225's vs not so good 245's.

All Toyos are available in 245/45/16. Depending on application, R1R, RA1, and R888 are great choices, if far from inexpensive. I'm still VERY curious about who makes a 245/50R16 though- that almost sounds like a truck size.

The R888 is a race tire, as is the RA-1 (I am sorry I forgot to say street tires) Hoosier and many other R-comps are availible in that size, and B Stock AP1's usually run that size at all four corners, but we are discussing street tires in this thread as far as I can tell.

But not ALL Toyos are available in 245... in fact, the R1R you mentioned only goes up to 225 in a 16 according to the company's site.

We don't have any street tires available in the 245/45R16 size anymore. They have all been discontinued.
