Default 225/40/18 Fronts 275/35/18 Rears?

Will that set-up be a good set-up to run? The tire company that Im getting tires through doesnt make 285/30 tires. I just want to make sure that it will be ok. I had 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 on my past wheels and so I figured this would be a good set-up, no? Thanks for the help and sorry I sound so noobish!

I think it all depends on the offset of the wheels that you are getting. Remember, I ran 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 for a while. The rears rubbed a bit b/c the wheels didn't have a large enough offset. Thats why replaced the rears with 255/18/35.

You can check the ratios here:

It looks that those sizes are too big, at least the rear should be by 30, not by 40!

Jimmy...the rears are 18x10 +73. Im not worried about the rubbing. I know I can fit the 285s, but I just wanted to make sure that 225/40 and 275/35 was a good ratio to be running!

your gonna have more under steer with that much of a difference

therefore.. add more camber to front, to neutral it out a lil.

what kinda tires u getting

225/285 is better ratio..

bfk kdw2 come this size/so3/michelin polit sports and a few other brands.

but yeah just add more camber to fronts, to increase" oversteer, therefore neutraling it out a little bit.

you will still have a slight tendency in the car to understeer but.. u can adjust the camber angles to correct it.. rather than putting a smaller rear.
riley

also a stiffer rear(idk what susp ur running) would increase oversteer.. adjusting the dampers u could create a perfect Neutral car if wanted

You probably already know this, but you'll have about 2.7% -2.8% error in your speedo/odo and change in your FD. Not a big diff really, but 285/30 would be better.

Im getting a sponsorship through Toyo. They dont have the 285/30 in the new T1-R series or the T1-S.

They have a 285/35, but Im assuming that would be a worse choice.

yeah thats worse

275/35 runs kinda thick

maybe a 265/35?

idk what they come in.. u just need to keep overall diameter similar

just keep this in mind

more camber front=more traction front=oversteer
more camber rear=more traction rear=understeer

but yeah 275/35 is too thick therefore 285/35 is thicker

if u increase the overall diameter=gear ratior messed up=speedo rears lower than ur going, plus u lose performance in a % ratio

more info pm me

T!-r's r sick tho

Ooh, sponsorship?...get me a set of T1Rs in 17"!

Yeah, 265/35 would be a bit better (1.6%-1.7% diff), but even 2.7% isn't that much.

Get me free tires!!!
