Thumbs up 215/45/17 255/40/17 combo

I'm getting ready to order my Sumitomos and am debating on size. I'm afraid the 225 will rub on the front since I'm lowered, but I don't want to use a 245 on the rear since my Volk rear wheels are 9" wide. Any one using the 215/255 combo? Does it handle ok? Does it look ok?

I just ordered Nitto NT01s for track in those sizes. I kept the front in the stock size for the same reason... car is lowered about an inch.

Good to know. I do notice the stock 215's are narrower than most other 215 tires out there.

Not a good combo for handling at all, although I wouldn't call it unsafe you are just going to understeer a lot more.

Not relative to the stock RE050s.

215/45-17 RE-050 tread width = 6.7"
245/40-17 RE-050 tread width = 9.1"
Front to rear percentage = 74%

215/45-17 NT-01 tread width = 7.6"
255/40-17 NT-01 tread width = 9.3"
Front to rear percentage = 82%

On the basis of tread width wouldn't the NT-01s understeer less due to increasing the relative grip at the front? And what about the CR? Honda went to a wider rear tire (255 up from 245).

you can VERY easily run a 245 on a 9" rim with zero stretch!

and then do the 215 front!

Its gonna look more "stretched" than it does on the stock 8" rim. I like the look of a little more meat to fill things in. I'm not worried about the rears rubbing, but the fronts are pretty close on the 215's. I'm lowered on Espelir ASD coils/Koni yellows on the upper perch and its pretty dumped.
