Default 2 different sets of tires?

WTF? So I bought my car about 2 weeks ago (used)...Today I went to clean up the wheels and tires a bit...And notice my front and rears are two different brands???

Fronts are Fuzion ZR1's and rears are something completely different (3000's????) or something like that...

How dangerous or dumb is that? Should I be buying a matching set asap?

Thanks

Not too dangerous if they tires have similar properties, though still not ideal. Sounds like you might have fronts that are grippier than your rears though. That's definitely risky. You're just asking for oversteer.

Best to have matching rubber all around. At the very least have the rears match on both sides and the fronts match on both sides. Your situation is neither dumb or horribly dangerous the previous owner was probably looking to save some money.

Sadly I looked at the tire thread (which was great on all 4 tires) but hadn't noticed the different brands...Call it excitement over the purchase or being strung out over driving 3 hrs to this particular dealership...

Are the Nexxens total shit?

I bought my S2K used as well and have two different brands of tires on it. Since this is a rear wheel drive car the rear tires will wear faster than the front. Previous owner probably didn't wanna spend the cash for an all around setup and just bought one set that needed changing. If you have good tread all around just buy a matching set of the tires that have better reviews and characteristics of what type of cond. you drive in. Or if you really want to, just buy a whole new set all around. I have Yokohama S Drives in the rear that are newer than the front and am planning on picking up a set of the same for the front next season.

As long as tread wear and tire pressures are good and they are matching sides, it should hold out fine until you can replace the rears. You can just replace them with the same brand as up front when the time comes, or go for all new rubber around. The fronts do not wear much at all, at least in my experience, so the better option may be to buy some Fuzions for the rear. As long as your alignment is good and the wear is even, you should be ok with different front and rear sets till they need to be changed (of course, make sure they are actually the right size too - check out the correct tire sizes for AP1s and AP2s in the tire thread).

Good luck!
