Default 18's to big?

So I just bought my S and purchased new rims at a local tyre shop I was an idiot and didn't get the brand of the tyres I got although I know exactly what they look like so I'm not to bothered but I realise it was a mistake, anyways what I can say is there Japanese light weight 5 spoke rims, so I came into the shop and asked for a set of 17's however after the guy at the shop did a few measurements he strongly insisted to get 18's and I agreed, it worries me as someone told me 18's are to big for the S and will effect the car, so my question is did I make a big mistake with the 18's if so how will they effect the car, thanks guys!

18s look nice, but keep in mind tire prices are significantly higher versus 17s. If you just DD and don't go through tires often it's not a big deal, but something to consider otherwise.

Some wheels looks good at 18" but i think 17" suits this little car the best, but its mine opinion
