Default 17x9.5 +18 with asm overfenders

So im looking to pick up some wheels. Im definitely getting the asm rear flares and will be cutting the quarters. U guys think 17x9.5 +18 would fit in the rear no problem? Im hoping 255 rears, not too much camber. Im not into the hellaflush stuff. But i dont want my wheels too far inside the car with +35. What do u guys think? Rpf1 sbc btw

Personally I would try for the 10 inch wide instead of 9.5. If your doing the overfenders you may as well get the widest you can. Also why rfp1's? You can get forgestars for barely more and they can be wider. For me if your going to cut up your car you may as well shove as much tire as possible in there.

True but im on a budget. Rpf1 goes for 1300 brand new and shipped. Thats why im going for them. Used volks still run 1500+++. Ill see if they do come im 10 inch. How much tire u thinking ? 275? 295? Hope i dont rub and dont need too much camber. Im on a inch drop then ill work my way down if i need to

That's about what forgestar runs for a set of new wheels. They offer 17x10 in custom offsets. If you do 18's you can go wider but you will have to measure and then you can run a 295 in the rear but those tires can cost more than the wheels. Lol. Rfp1 comes in a 17x10 +38. Might sit fairly flush with minimal camber. I have a hard time visualizing these wide body ones as I have never fit wheels to a car with them. This is where you get under the car and measure it out.

This should help you. Go to the end of the thread and work your way backwards. I think more people post up wheel specs with their overfenders and pictures of their wheels. It'll give you a better idea of what will fit and how it looks.

FWIW, i'd venture to say that that might be too wide. I think you'll need something like the Amuse GT1 kit to fit those kinds of wheels. For a functional track setup that makes use of those over fenders, you're looking at 17x9.5 +30, or something like 17x10 +38 or so. From what I hear, they don't give you too much more room over the stock rears when pulled skilfully (true roller specialist, not a baseball bat). Anyway, don't quote me on that, i'm more knowledgeable about what works with the OEM shell/fenders.

Anyway, here's a link to that thread. Goodluck.

Also, this what I think is a good meaty setup with functional use of suspension, alignment and wheel specs, etc. etc. I I know they're 18" NT-03+M, don't know the spec though. I'd run that wheel if I ran 18"s and if they cleared a BBK - which they don't until +25 offsets or something.

Yeah 9.5 +18 is too aggressive and narrow for a functional over fender. Id probably go with the 10" +38 rpf1/nt03 in an 18" and run the 285/30, which may in fact be what is being run above in the rear on that blue s2k. Will be about the best compromise if you’re not going to go with forgestar or more expensive custom offset. Little point in running an overfender and sticking with 17"/255 set up. 275/40/17 is a donut, so I dont consider it a viable option.

if i had to guess i'd say thats the 9.4+40 up front and 9.5+27 rear on the NT03s

+1 to raising the offsets and widths. the 10+38 would be plenty

Thanks guys. I want to try to stay 17s because of tire prices. Ill probably go with 17x10 with a less aggressive offset

10" +38 to +30 range with 255/40/17 would be probably the best choice then. At least you will get the most out of the 255 on that width rim.

What's wrong with 275/40/17's. I love my nto5s in 275/40/17. They are only 25.5" in total diameter. They won't throw off your speedo by that much. There are plenty of guys running 26" tires in the back.
