17x8 non-stagger?
Hello - I am looking at the possibility of running a 17x8 non-staggered setup. My buddy has a set of 17x8 + 50 wheels I can get off him for cheap. I would have to put new tires on it tho. I read thru the wheel and tire setup thread.
Right now, I am stock. I plan to get swift spec-r's and koni yellows if anything....
I need some good front and rear tires - i don't know if I should run 45 series or 40 series? Whats the best width - Tire rack is saying 225/45/17 which I think is conservative. Seems like the tire guide says I can run 235 ans 255 on 8" with 50 offset.
Sorry, I am confused. I would like to jump on these and tell my buddy I will take them so I can get this set.
Thanks much!

the size and offset will fit just fine. as far as tire size, a 235 will have a vertical sidewall on an 8" wheel. anything smaller will be a stretch and anything wider will bulge. depends on what you are going for. 235/40 is a great tire size in my opinion. i'd go with those in the rear and 215/45 up front...

Mostly street driving and a little auto-x. But mainly street use. I don't want to deal with fender mods etc - Just something lighter and more aggresive looking. Thanks much!
EDIT - Seemes like I found 215/40/17 and 245/40/17 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 or Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec on tire rack for about $650. That be decent?

With the 17X8 I would go with either a 235/40R17 or 245/40R17 all the way around. You could have a little rubbing on the front with the 245. If I c an help let me know.

i suggested the 235/40 and 215/45 combo because they have almost the same sidewall height(only a 3mm difference). also, having a narrower tire up front will give you less of a tendency toward over steer and no chance of rubbing.

245/40 might be wide. It will work. Also KDW are not that good for the money. I did not like them. If u want cheap but massive grip. RS-3 are great. Star spec are great all round tire for the money.
