I'm looking into some new wheels and I found some that I like.
First of all, my S2000 is not lowered and I don't have any plans to lower it at this time.

What they offered me is 17" x 9" in the front and 17" x 10" in the rear.
These wheels will be made to order so I can get any off set.
My question is: Is this too wide? He said the correct off set for the 10" wide rears
is something like -73 !!! And, tire size is 265 or 275 wide.

First of all, my concern is that the off set needs to be correct. Secondly, is this just too wide?
Is anybody else running this set up or similar? What's you opinion?

Yes, I think it is too wide. It may look cool from the rear but you will get penalized with heavier weight and probably sluggish performance. 255 for the rear is the widest I would go.

 

i agree with mhk, the ideal rear tire size is 245 or 255. there are a few people running 10" in the rear, but thats for a "race only" setup, and would not be a good setup for daily driving, or street driving.

 

First of all, 9" width for the front is way to wide!
10" width in the rear is ok, but will slow down performance more.
As for offsets, 10" with +75 is good! I think RT is running that right now with 285/30-18, but he is supercharged!
For the front, I'd go 8" with at least +54 with 225 size tires. Any wider can effect steering issues or rubbing inside.
My $.02.

 

I would go with:

17x8 +55, 225/45/17
17x9 +65, 255/40/17

If you have the power:

17x8 +55, 225/45/17
17x10 +75, 265/40/17

Anyway, I think I'll request narrower wheels.

 

If you're going w/ 17's than there's no reason to go with wheels wider than 7.5" frt (225's) and 9" rear (255's). Even if you had mucho power to put down, no "normal" 17" tires come in a wider size w/ the correct rolling radius.
Note: With the 18's you need the 10's (10.5's in my case but not recommended) so you can run the 285/30's.
So for wimpy a$$ 17's j/k:
Frt 17x7.5 ET55 running 225/45-17's
Rear 17x9 ET65 running 255/40-17's
and you'll have the smoking set-up w/ STOCK offsets (bonus .... bonus)

That is correct!
Even though you don't plan to lower, these offsets would let you go to the snubbers if you wanted (in other words, these offsets are totally correct, as in the wheels "fit" the car)
95% or more of the aftermarket wheels people have on their S2000's don't "FIT" right

 

It's not "-"...it's "+".

17x7.5, +55mm
17x9, +65mm

And yes...these are great offsets and wheel widths!
