Hi All,
I'm expecting my new 17" Work Meister S2Rs to arrive sometime next week, so I figure I should
order new tires pretty soon. The wheel sizes are as follows...
- 17 x 7.5 (+52) front
- 17 x 8.5 (+59) rear
Now, I considered just purchasing the same tires that Honda ships with the '04s...
Bridgestone RE-050...
- 215/45R17 front (dia = 24.8" / tread width = 6.7")*
- 245/40R17 rear (dia = 24.6" / tread width = 9.0")*
* from Bridgestone's web.site
...but I noticed that there is a comparable set of RE-750s with similiar tread widths but with slightly
larger overall diameters...
Bridgestone RE-750...
- 205/50R17 front (dia = 25.1" / tread width = 6.6")
- 255/40R17 rear (dia = 25.0" / tread width = 8.8")
Does anyone know if I'll have problems with the listed S2R/RE-750 combos at stock height? On
paper, they'll just about maintain the proper stagger for neutral handling; with the added benefit
of filling the fender gaps a little better than the listed RE-050s.
FWIW, the '00 - '03 OEM tires are as follows...
Bridgestone S-02 (S2000)...
- 205/55R16 front (dia = 25.0" / tread width = 7.1")
- 225/50R16 rear (dia = 24.8" / tread width = 8.5")
Thanks in advance!
Don

With the 205/50R17 and 255/40R17 you end up with more stagger than stock. I think you would be better off with the 04 set up of 215/45R17 and 245/40R17 or 225/45R17 and 255/40R17. Both of these should work with the wheels you mention.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

Thanks Jim!
I also considered your second suggestion, but according to Bridgestone's web.site...
Bridgestone RE-050...
- 215/45R17 front (dia = 24.8" / tread width = 6.7")
- 245/40R17 rear (dia = 24.6" / tread width = 9.0")
- 225/45R17 front (dia = 25.0" / tread width = 8.2") <-- !!!
- 255/40R17 rear (dia = 25.0" / tread width = 9.1")
...so I assumed there wasn't enough stagger with the 8.2" front tread widths.
Thoughts?
Thanks again! Don
