16x8 RPF1s
I'm curious If anyone has experience running a square set of 16x8s with a 38 offset? I'm looking at running a 215/55 tire. I'm on stock suspension right now and and when I get coilovers i'm looking at only dropping an inch or so.
Thanks,
Ian

Any reason you are:
1) Looking to downgrade tire size over stock AP1 tire size (Rear is 225/50/16).
2) Going aftermarket wheels, but in 16" instead of 17".
3) Going with a lower aggressive offset as opposed to something at least +45.
My advice is upgrade to 17" stock AP2 setup, 17x8/17x9, or 17x9 all around, or if sticking to the 16x8 setup run a 225/50/16 square setup (and I'm assuming your fenders must be modified / rolled / pulled / cut? to accomodate aggressive +38 offset). You could also run stock AP1 tire size, better than a 215 square imo. (205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear).
Reason being is that a 215 is a really narrow (and unattractive) tire for the rear of an s2000. My old VW Jetta came with 225's squared in stock form..

There is literally zero reason to buy these wheels. Buy 17's. You will have to roll your fenders. You will have a narrower tire in the rear negatively effecting handling. It will look bad. Buy 17's in at least the ap2 oem widths and specs otherwise don't waste your money.

Hey, if you look at some of the track guys on this forum, they are running 16x7 / 16x7.5 square set up with 235/55 tires
16" is not a problem, but the tire width he is choosing is important
The OP also needs to realize that 16" is not large enough to accommodate for bbk if he chooses to go that route sometime in the future

Which track guys are those, the handy capped ones? lol Must be some particular class/rule limitations? Because its not an optimum set up if you want to get the quickest times out of the car in any moderate size venue. Your right that 16’s aren’t even particularly the important factor here, it’s the widths they come in, and the tire widths available, which are very lacking.

Yeah, I too would like to know which track guys are running 16x7/16x7.5 with 235's.
Because as you said that would not fit over a BBK and would a 235 be extremely bulged on a 7" wheel?
I can't see any track guy not running atleast AP2 spec wheels.

The only people running 16's at the track have to be the stock class where they are limited to using the wheels that can on the car. Maybe some autox use 16's but even then you see more 17's. Again there is no reason to run these wheels especially with those tire sizes.

Maybe you guys are right about the rules/regulations
It's been some time but I remember seeing pictures on this site where people tracked and did time attack with 16"
I'm pretty positive it's somewhere in the forum
I remember seeing a white S2000 having 245/45/16 square set up with 16x8 all around too
Back then I Was debating if I wanted to buy 16" or 17" and searched through tons of pics on the forum
