Default 16 inch tire selection...

I am looking for some replacement tires for my 03 s2k. I wanted to get the 245 rears but when I search tire rack I only come up with three options. Is this really all the selection I will find to acquire 245/45r16 size rears or am I missing some key information here.....?

245/45 is nowhere near as readily available as 225/50. What sort of tires are you looking at getting (summer, all season, etc)?

summer tires with decent grip for some autocrossing but still daily drivable. I was hoping for the 245 because of all the posts that talk about how other brand 225's are smaller than stock. Is tire rack pretty much all inclusive or should I be looking else where to acquire 245's?

A popular tire that Tirerack doesn't carry in the 205/245 stagger is the Hankook RS2. I personally have been running 205/225 without any adverse consequences. If you have the money, getting the Bridgestone RE01R's in 205/225 will be better than any 245 out there. Autocrossers have had nothing but good things to say about them.

And it looks like the AP1 sizes are on special at Tire Rack at the moment... $109 for the 205/55 and $117 for the 225/50. That's pretty good compared to the OE S02s for $145/$154.

The RE01R rear tire has almost the same tread width as the OE tire, though the front has about 1/2 more tread width. Could mean more oversteer, but probably not enough to be a problem on the street, and could be useful for autocross.

Have you checked out bridgestone RE750's ? just a few more bucks for a lot better tire, and with a good wet traction too.

I doubt he means that as they are different types of tires. Here's a post from ZDan about the best choices in 16" tires I've found valuable. I just replaced my worn SO2s with R-S2 Z212s.

IMO:

Dry street perf: B'stone RE01R
Dry + wet street perf: B'stone RE050A Pole Position
Dry + wet street perf for less $$$: Hankook Z212 RS2 (I have these)
Dry + wet street perf with longer life: B'stone RE750
track perf: Hoosier R6
autoX perf: Hoosier A6
track perf + driving to and from track: Toyo RA1 (Kumho's = not durable enough, I've been through two sets of rears in three events!)
All-season: B'stone RE960 Pole Position

In no way, Hes looking for 245/45/16, and that tire size is avalible in a RE750 tire.
