Default 12 ounces less?

I'm getting some CCW's machined and they have an "Eastwood" option that lightens the lip 12 ounces. Over the set of 4 wheels you lose 3 lbs. It is the ribbing on the lips of the wheels
John the owner said they are called the "Eastwood" option because it will shred another car if it comes in contact during road racing.
"You've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?" Haha

I'm not to crazy about the looks though
just wondering if the weight loss of 12 ounces is worth it?
The option is no cost by the way

Here are regular C10's for comparison

Thanks

I like how it looks. It is different. It will make them a pain to clean but any weight loss is a good thing.

It looks too much like a truck wheel to me with the shaved out areas. It is functional however, so if you like the look I say go for it.

The silver wheels looks like it has chain Links welded to the lip lol. Not feeling the looks at all. Sometimes you find modification such as this where the performance is literally splitting hairs on net benefit, so in cases like this I always air on the side of looks. Becuase everyday you have to look at it and so does everyone else when your parading it around on the street. If your into something different for the sake of a talking piece then this would do it. All the talk may not be very positive though so be prepared for that.

weld brand makes an American drag racing wheel with a similar sort of notch thing going on with the inner barrel.

As a structural engineer who has analyzed and designed wheels for motorcycles, have to say I wonder why they didn't just make the original lathe-turnable lip thinner and lighter-weight. On the wheels I designed, NO WAY you could take out relatively large blocks of aluminum out of the rim like that! Because I designed them to be as light-weight as possible while meeting structural requirements.

This was my thought as well. If the wheel can "afford" to lose that much material, then it was overbuilt to begin with. They could have just made it thinner and lighter from the beginning.

From a looks perspective, it's not terrible, though I don't really care for it either. This work is going to be a HUGE pain to keep clean. Brake dust is going to want to hide in those crevices and stay there.
