Default Toyo RA1

Need a set of RA1's -- 205/40R17 and 255/40R17 or so. Who has them, and who has a good price?

If you want them shaved then I suggest Vilven Tire, 1-800-251-0017

Phil, haven't heard from you for awhile. Your trailer is holding up fine. I had to get a weight-distribution hitch to keep the Pathfinder level.

I'm in the process of buying a set of dedicated track wheels and tires, and the RA1's have been recommended. Trying to find a supplier in Calif, at least. The Tire Rack doesn't carry them, so I can't support Jim.

Does this guy supply non-shaved tires? Figured I'd go with full tread for some extra tire life, since it's just for fun. Is there a drawback to not shaving?

How and you and your stook doing?

Stuart

Since these will be dedicated track tires, there's no reason not to shave them. The small increase in tire life is not worth the huge sacrifice in performance. The rubber on the outside sucks in comparison to the stuff down below. If you don't shave them, by the time you get to the good rubber, the tires are so heat cycled that they still perform sub-par.

The ONLY reason to not shave them is if you will encounter wet conditions. IMHO

They start at 1/4" tread -- knock down to 1/8". Makes sense. Thanks.

Try the Buttonwillow Tire Center (at the track a little north of Bakersfield).
