Default I need this

When you take off your shifter knob, you have a threaded pole like thing it either twists on or (if the knob isnt tapped) slides on.

I took my (came when I bought my car) Momo shifter off to put the stock aluminum one (just bought a few weeks ago and forgot I had it) on, and noticed my threads were all f**k'd up. I dont want to force this knob on cus it cost me $80 damn dollars to get and i dont want to fk up its threads..

Anyway, what is the name of this threaded shifter thing and where can I get it?
Also if anyone has one (spare or junked from another S) ill be deffinatly interested.
Just let me know how much.

I have no idea, but its a hard piece to install, cause it connected right above the tranny, as one piece.

Oh... So what all would be involved then?
Would I haveto pull the tranny off in order to do this?
If so, to me, it might not even be worth the hassle.
Also if i'd haveto gut my interior an what not.. too much hassle.

Starting to look like I got myself an $80 aluminum shifter trophe that I can stare at.

It would be easier to drop the entire tranny, not sure if you can get to it from the shifter area.

NO NO NO NO! If you are talking about the shifter piece that the shift knob screws on to, then it is really simple. You just need to buy a stock shifter or shortshifter....worth the money . My short shifter was $250 shipped. It would take about 15-20 min. to install. If you need more info pm me. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DROP THE TRANNY!!!!

Isn't it the shift fork?

You know I was sitting here thinking the same thing. Why don't you just rethread the damn thing? Surely its not so bad that you can't do that.
