Default Windshield Rock Chip Repair

So this morning I found a small rock chip on my windshield. I called Speedy and they want $100! to repair the chip (and ICBC no longer covers this cost). I remember paying $40 last time I had a repair done on my older car.

Anyway, I know I can find a better price. Does anyone have a place they can recommend?

Thanks!

If you don't mind a drive over the Malahat drop into Apple auto glass in Duncan. He is a friend and straight shooter 35.00 rock chip repairs has the largest shop in duncan no appointments needed for rock chip. He is running a special now 35.00 for one or more chips on same windshield. Across from Mr Mikes Trans Canada Hwy and Beverly corners, the money you save will pay your gas and lunch.

My windshield is heavily pitted but they are all tiny and only visible in really bright light (this weather now I'm not even noticing them). I imagine it's from all the Nevada sand. My Truck was like this when I got it @ 100k and then not long after it got smashed and replaced. I drove it with the newer wind shield until 285k and it still looked nearly perfect. I didn't realize ICBC stopped fixing chips, I guess it wasn't saving them enough preventing wind shield replacements.

^When I got my S, I thought the same thing because it was a Texas car and had been mostly highway driven. When I had it resprayed, I replaced the windshield with new OEM. It stayed nice for a few weeks and then I started noticing the tiny pits appearing again. I don't really think it's due to poor glass quality. The car is so low and the angle of the windshield is such that it gets pounded by gravel/rocks/dust.

I remember reading some where that OEM glass is really soft compared to other alternatives. That can also be part of the reason why it chips so easily

I have pits all over my glass as well, if I were to replace my windshield I would definitely not buy OEM glass.

Glad to see it's normal, well sorta glad. I probably won't even notice it again for 5 months when the weather starts to change.
