I was considering winter tires but think I'm going to pass for this year. $1200ish seems like a lot for probably 2 weeks of subzero temperatures. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
seem to be excellent in the rain. I may just have to work from home for a couple days this year when/if snow is bad. With my 4x4 I'd make it in to work no problem on the worst of days only to be sent home an hour later due to weather.

I'd be up for a meet, I find I tend to have more free time when the weather sucks.

Yeah winter tires are not necessary to be honest for our area. You'd be just fine with the Michelin, I had those tires previously and they work great putting around town in the snow

Not daily driving it but always on the road all year long. =)

s2k in this weather......shame on all you. the only time my s2 gets wet is if i wash it.

The southern part of Vancouver Island and even up as far as the middle, snows so rarely and when it does, the snow sticks around for what ...... a few days. I can understand you not buying snow tires for a few days of snow and parking it during that time, but why would anybody consider putting their S2000s away till spring? Calgary has some of the ugliest winter weather anywhere and there are many daily driven S2000s here.
Did they make a different model of S2000 for Vancouver Island? Are they more delicate? Do they shrink when they get wet? When they get a little cold, do they run crying home to mommy? Did Honda forget to install the tough genes on west coast S2000s?

It's a well known fact that a small number of S2000's were built strictly for weather above 15C and not meant to be driven under cloudy skies. I'm still waiting on Honda for a list of serial numbers.

Please refrain from autocross and other intense driving until some research can be done on what else might have been compromised when building these cars.

I'm admittedly a wuss who stores her car because I don't want it to get dirty. But if it were my daily, I wouldn't like driving it in Vancouver in the winter. I wouldn't want to risk getting hit by someone. Even when there's black ice on the ground, lots of people around here still act as though road conditions are perfect. The bigger the car, the more likely its driver will just barrel around, paying no attention to whether they actually have any traction. "Because I've got AWD, summer tires should be fine in the snow!"
