Staying overnight in Vancouver at Hotel
I've heard that car theft in Vancouver is bad. My wife and I plan on staying at a downtown hotel that has underground gated parking. I've stayed there before and was fine, but that was with my Civic. This time I'd like to take the S2000 (much funner ride), but don't want my car to get busted into. Of course I won't be keeping anything of value in it, I have seat locks, yadda yadda. Am I being overly-paranoid?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Car theft has subsided it seems with our bait car program. There are still guys who will break in here and there occasionally, but f you want a safer hotel downtown then it would probably be a pricier one.
Do you care what kind of hotel it is or where in downtown? that might make a difference

I've stayed at the Sylvia Hotel many times. Very quaint hotel on English Bay. They have underground parking that has camera surveilance. I've never had a problem there.

I was considering the downtown Best Western on Drake St or one of the Fairmonts. They seem nice.

I've stayed at that Best Western before, it's pretty nice...but if your car is lowered beware, the entrance to their gated underground parking is pretty steep.

The Opus Hotel in Yale Town is pretty amazing. This is not that well know, because it is small, but the standards are very high. A stay at the Opus Hotel was included as part of the presenters' gift packages for one of the big US award shows (can't remeber which one). I would say that it has to be one of the best in Vancouver at this time...
