Is this s2000 worth buying?
Hey im pretty new to this but i found an s2000 from the states im looking at currently to import. Iv wanted one for a while now and im not sure if this example would be worth it for the price.Engine is pretty stock except for an cold air intake.
It has a Cusco rear roll cage, New Stage 1 clutch and pressure plate, Buddy club tail lights, Aftermarket headlights, AP2 style front bumper, APR carbon side mirrors, APR carbon wing, and Enkie wheels. It is Clean title, and title in hand.
car looks mostly clean but it has 200k miles and he is asking about 13k.
would it be worth it?

Been over 2 weeks, any feedback? US$13,000 is either a misprint or the car is a complete hooptie. Maybe a project car if you have lots of time and cash.

I have seen near 200,000 mile S2ks selling in the low teens so that does not surprise me really. Has a cage I would not trust on track being a cage (they are nicknamed Crushco by some lol). I would try to find a trustworthy person in the states to thoroughly look it over though. May just be a bit rough and high mileage and a decent price for a project car. But, my concern is you are importing it so it is certainly something you want checked over very well (hidden crash damage, etc). Used motors go for around $4k and up even with a lot of miles on them, so if the motor has not been maintained well then you have to consider that. Transmissions sell used anywhere between $1500 and $2500 these days (getting rebuild parts is getting pretty tough).
But if the frame and body are clean, it may be worth it even if unknown history on the motor. You could probably find a used motor and trans for it and still have an S2k under $20k with less mileage on the drivetrain. Would be tempting for a track car build.
