My buddy was driving in richmond by number 5 befor stevenston highway he claims he saw a radar board with his speed and a picture after he went by. I'm in a debate with him because I thought we dont have speed cameras in BC anymore after the 2001 laws. Anyone chime in and let us know if there is a camera there ? for speed?

I'd guess its for self awareness. There is no photoradar here (we still have red-light cameras, though)

You'll be amazed how many drivers don't ever look at their speedometer.

I've seen these speed billboards at construction zones, school zones, etc. Probably the same thing.

They do have these setup from time to time to show drivers how fast they are travelling. I have seen them on the island here in school zones.

Also we still have intersection camera's, although I know that is not what you mean.

Yes Dave i understand that, I'm just curious on the part where my buddy said this" yea man i was down driving on number 5 then this radar board took my speed and a picture of my car" I said. -> No way man they took speed cameras out in 01. We have a dispute going on ha ha. I see the radar boards everywhere just no cameras though.....

That is a fake one. it has been there for many years. The purpose of that device is to remind ppl to slow down. The flash is also for scare factor.
