I have heard people saying that stay away from these products because what it does is removing the haze and scratches by thinning the plastic layer (almost like sanding it down). Thus your plastic lamp cover is thinner than before which may weaken the plastic and lead to crack in the future if hit by small rocks.

Megs also has a kit, but like Mike said, it's not totally necessary. It does come with a pad though.
