Default Extended Warranty

Anyone here has an early model and is thinking about extended warranty??? I sure as hell am cuz my tranny has gone bunk twice already . . . . . . . (always double clutch on downshifts and have 20,000km MTF changes and the synchs still went in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and reverse, crossing my fingers on 3rd gear)

Any suggestions on who to get extended warranty from??? any experiences on companies who are easy to do claims with?

Thanks in advance for any replies

There are quite a few 3rd party warranty out there. I know VW is famous for selling you 3rd party warranty. Fortunately I've never owned a VW so I don't know of any good 3rd party warranty

Sometime it makes me wonder if trying too hard to preserve the tranny will actually do it more harms than goods. I've only grinded the car about 3 times in the last 2 years. One was my mistake, the other 2 were in the city off a 5-6hrs hot highway drive. It could have easily been me so used to the quick shift on the highway and not used to the slow pace of city streets.

Another thing is we could all be too paranoid because of all the hype on S2Ki. I'm crossing my fingers that all the problems I've read won't happen to me.

Dave... 3 times?

how many clicks have you had on your car... i have almost 60,000km on mine almost, and i double clutch a lot. also have had about 2 tranny oil changes and thats' about it. I had that TSB recall done during the 2nd year to fix the grind , but other than that, there's been no problems.

Should i be expecting to change my transmission soon then?

I changed my tranny fluid every 20,000km's, 2 times my tranny went
1st time 1st and 2nd gear went tits up, reverse would not go in unless double clutched, took it back, dealer messed up putting reverse back in and reverse went bunk and had to get reverse fixed (yep, gotta love them techs who get paid by the job, cuz they are so meticulous and take so much care in putting your tranny back together, YEAH RIGHT)

second time 4th, 5th and 6th wouldn't engage at all at speeds past 80kph

tranny was so stiff last couple of weeks, so I changed the tranny fluid and everything seems to be OK for now.

Anyways I like my car and I think I want to keep it for a long time (God willing) and I don't really want
to deal with sheeet that will eventually fall apart . . . . . . . . I have 50,400km's right now and warranty's out, so I want a safety net . . . . . . . .

I am actually looking at AUTO SHIELD right now, the S2000 is classified under Class E

For vehicles with 40,001 to 80,000km's . . . . . .

$50 deductible
for additional 48 months / additional 80,000km's to whatever you have now

--> $4,512 for Ultimate coverage (everything)
--> $2,653 for Powertrain coverage

don't know if it's worth it . . . . . . . . . and don't know how much of a bitch it is for doing claims . . . . . .

Hmmm... I'm at about 30,000km and all seem to be just fine so far. I haven't noticed any decrease in transmission performance, but then again I am a really mild driver. Hell, I am still on my first set of SO2's.

Go for it. I know I will. Its a small price to pay if something major breaks down and its probably worth it just for the peice of mind.
