Duffey Lake Loop
#11
I have done in 2012, between Lillooet and Lytten I saw 3 cars (~60km, both directions!). It is a great drive, from the second week of September on we would be able to join in (July and August is sooo busy, less traffic too then).

I'm still very interested in doing this run. Lets do it before the weather turns bad. But being a new member and never having done this run, I have a few questions. How long does it take? Where would we stop for breaks? How spirited would the drive be? Would all drivers be requested to drive the same speed?
It would be good if someone who has done this run, take the lead on this run.

It's a good 8 hours of driving to do a round trip starting downtown. I would suggest the following:
- Meet at gas station in North Van
- pit stop in Squamish
- pit stop in whistler
- pit stop in pemberton
- drive Duffey Lake Rd to Lillioet
- pit stop Lillioet
- Reverse order home
It sucks we have to drive so far to find a great road. It is pretty epic though.

Referring to my earlier July posting, I'm told that it's an easy one-day run to drive from Vancouver to Hope, from there up the Fraser Canyon (Hwy 1) to Lytton, then Hwy 12 to Lillooet, then on 99 to Pemberton and back via Whistler and Squamish. In other words, drive the loop counter clockwise which I'm told provides the best scenery. Vancouver to Hope could be via Hwy 1, or via the Lougheed Hwy to avoid bridge tolls. Bring your GPS and sunscreen
BLkAP1's suggestion is also very interesting, and would take about the same amount of time.
I have to admit I've never done such a route, but with suitable rest/fuel stops and reasonable traffic it should be a lot of fun. If I'm lucky, I should be able to join the run, depending on my schedule. So for me it might be a last-minute decision, but I'd love to do it.

I like your idea better s2kcanuck. Doing a loop is probably way more interesting. I guess the only upside to my route is that you get to drive Duffy Lake both ways. I still think your plan is better!
It'll be a last minute decision for me as well, but I would love to go!
