Default Duffey Lake Loop

I've heard so much about the Duffey Lake Loop, yet I've never done it before? Anyone up for this? Either a part of it or the entire loop.

I was chatting with friends who recently traveled the Fraser Canyon (Hwy 1) to the Okanagan and back, in their AP1.

When I asked them about the Sea-to-Sky route I was advised to avoid Hwy 1 because of too many trucks and travel trailers. They suggested a circle via Kamloops and the boring Coquihalla instead, but that adds too much to the total distance. I'd be willing to have a go if the timing fits my work schedule.

Was chatting with a Jag-XKE driver today who highly recommends the drive.

He offered an interesting tip ... do the loop *counter-clockwise* so you're facing the best scenery rather than looking at it in your rear view mirror. Leave Vancouver about 8am and get home early evening. Summer tourist traffic shouldn't be too bad. He mentioned that the Route 12 segment of the trip (driving north from Lytton to Lillooet) was custom made for sports cars. Same for the Lillooet to Pemberton segment.

Oh, and run with the top open, the windows up and the air conditioning going full blast. Temps can reach 40 in a few spots.

I have never driven this route, so it would be fun to have a large gaggle of 2Ks raising eyebrows around the loop.

I haven't really thought about a date, early August? It's been so hot lately, sounds like June might be the best time for a drive like this!

What about late August if the weather is a little bit cooler? We could include our PNW friends from across the border.

Mount Baker each spring and Duffy Loop each fall??

If this happens, I would be game on a weekend and either before 12th August or after 26th of August.
