Contemplating a track weekend
Hey fellow S2K'ers..., a buddy of mine over on the NSXPrime site contacted me today and he is thinking of having the NSX club rent the Tofino airport for a weekend for some full out track time. I am pasting in his email below. At this point he is attempting to determine if there would be any interest in such a thing.
Dave
Myself and another NSX owner are looking at organizing a track weekend at the Tofino airport.
The Porsche Club does this annually and they all stay at the Black Rock resort in Ucluelet
They make a road course using cones on a D shaped part of the runways (see small pic).
The straightaway is about ¼ mile long so lots of speed is possible
About 40 Porsche owners turn out for the weekend
We have 14 NSX’s on the Island and 39 in BC so we’re thinking we may be able to get 12-15 out for a track weekend and think having 25 cars makes for a good event.
Do you think there might be enough interest from say 10-12 S2000 owners to come out for a weekend event?
One NSX owner runs the driving event for the Porsche group so we have a qualified instructor
What do you think?
Jim
So what do you guys think? Would anyone be interested in participating in such an event? If you want more information, I have a pdf brochure that came with the email and it describes the resort and the Porsche club description of the same event. Let me know what you think.

Hello S2000 owners from the NSX group.
Our idea is for a two day driving school event based at the Tofino airport with the track group registered at one long beach area resort.
The track is laid out with cones on the runways and is a serious challenge to handle.
The Porsche group has been doing this for about 5 years and is a sellout each year
There are three groups, novice intermediate and expert, and the instructor is Steve Cropper from Calgary.
Steve owns a 91 NSX and has run track events for 20 years.
Costwise the black rock resort charges the Porsche group $140 per night for Friday and sat night and the Porsche track event is $180
So it's about a $500 weekend.
Most Porsche owners bring their wife/husband/partners so its a weekend at long beach for those not tracking their cars
There is about four hours of track time a day so no shortage or time on that score.
We have already discussed getting the runways with the airport manager and he is okay with an Acura/Honda event
If we can get enough interest we would try for something in the fall of 2014 .
I'm at jdcross@shaw.ca if you want to register interest and further info.
