Default Clicking noise from the back end.

Hello, I bought my `01 S2K (from the Honda Way) a little over a month ago and have noticed a noise coming from the back end. I think the noise has always been there but thought i`d ask you guys for some input. My car has 38,xxx kms and the rear diff. has been replaced just before I bought it. I notice this "click/crack" noise pulling out of first or going in reverse. (It only "clicks once right when I get moving)...and it doesn`t happen all the time. I have talked to some people about it and they say it is the diff. engaging...I`m hopping this is all normal noise for as S2K (knowing there kinda noisy cars)...anyways, any feedback would be much appreciated

Thanks, Gerald.

Go to Honda, Purchase Two axle nuts.

It is a very easy process to fix.

- Jack up the rear of the vehicle
- Remove Wheel
- Remove axle nut ( Impact gun would make life easier )
- Grease the axle threads
- Retorque the new nuts back on to about 220 ft/tq ?
- Place wheel back on

I didn't buy new ones, just regreased and retorqued. Might be a good idea to get new ones, though. Also, you'll need a big socket, (24 mm I think?), and a fairly hefty torque wrench.

Axle nuts have an edge that is hammered down to prevent the nut from spinning off. You can reuse the nuts if you swap the nuts left to right and right to left. This ensures that there's a fresh part of the nut to hammer down. (just look at your axles if you don't understand what I mean)

Btw, you need a 25" breaker bar+cheater pipe or a big impact gun to get the nuts off. Afterwards, you need a really big torque wrench to retighten them.

Just retorque the axle nuts to spec, and then most importantly remember to spike them good!

Thanks for all your comments. I phoned Honda and they`re going to look at it this Wednesday...It came with four months warranty, so i`m hoping it`ll be covered.
Again, thanks for the help. Gerald.
