Alignment Recommendations
Hey guys,
Did a search but didn't come up with enough info.
Want to get a precision alignment on my AP2.

Want to get a precision alignment on my AP2.
- Has anyone done the UK spec alignment? Is this ok for Ap2?
This is the spec here:
Front
Caster Left 6° 45"
Caster Right 6° 45"
Camber Left -1° 00"
Camber Right -1° 00"
Toe Left 0° 0"
Toe Right 0° 0"
Total Toe 0° 0"
Rear
Camber Left -2° 00"
Camber Right -2° 00"
Toe Left 0° 20"
Toe Right 0° 20"
Total Toe 0° 40"
In degrees:
Front Caster 6°45" = 6.75°
Front Camber -1.0°
Front Toe 0.0°
Rear Camber -2.0°
Rear Toe 0°20" = +0.16°
Total Toe 0°40" = +0.32°
- Where can I get such an alignment done, precisely to the above spec, preferably with me in the car? Close to Vancouver if possible.
- Ultimately I want to align correctly and also add some steering feel/feedback. I'm a new owner and this is my only complaint about this car. Coming from Miata and 911, the steering in the S2k leaves something to be desired. I did a search and I know this isn't a popular comment because lots of S2ks owners assert that their cars steer perfectly, but I know what I like and I know the steering on-center feel could definitely be improved and the feedback coming from the contact patches isn't the greatest for a sporting car. Some suggest adding positive caster. Anyone tried this around here?

i've got the UK spec on my 2002 AP1. it reduced oversteer somewhat, and the increased rear toe-in does make power oversteer much easier to control. i had them increase the caster as much as possible, and it seemed to increase the weight and centre-ing feel of the steering.
some things to consider, though, is that the rear toe will accelerate rear tire wear, and it also seems increase that rear end squirming feeling you get over the black sealant lines on wet highways

I don't think there is conclusive information as to whether the Euro alignment is good/better for the AP2s.

First off, what do you plan on doing with your car?
It may be a little hard to get 6.75 degrees of caster. I had around 5.5 with -1.8 camber in the front. When I changed LCA's, my right side could only get 4.4 while camber maxed out at -1.5.
Just go to either Dales, PDM, or Tung Fat Motors and ask them to get you -1.0 camber, zero toe, and max caster.
Rear, -1.8 to -2.0 is fine, and slight toe in is fine.
If you have too much toe-in in the rear, you will find the back end a little squirmy when you go over uneven surfaces or there is uneven levels of grip ie driving over the painted white lines in the rain.
For autoX last year, I was running -1.8 camber, 1/4 total toe out, and max caster front and -2.2 camber, 1/8 total toe in in the rear.
The rear was definately quite squirmy along hwy 91 in the wet.

Thanks for all the responses, guys.
SumAzn, just my Daily Driver. But I want it properly aligned and the steering weight and centering improved, hence the wish for more caster.
I think I'll do what you suggest.
