here's a thread about doing it that way:

the results speak volumes, but there were some drawbacks to the method.

i plan to just repaint after a few years. maybe time for a widebody

In my 00 i mastered rock chip repair after doing the whole front end. its much easyer with the honda oem applicator. It will not leave those big clumps you speak of. use the pin side and just fill it in. It turns out very smooth. I had a proffesional show me how to do it. I can help you get one at my dealership. They are 4 bucks. Moreover, once you are touched up as good as you can get it.....clearbra that S.O.B! I can also help you with that through Autotrim here in riverdale. Dealer cost is around 380. They do halfway up the fenders, the mouth, the whole front end plus the sideview mirrors. Ive been very happy with the results.
