Thumbs up For you winter Daily Drivers

So I think I'm going to use my S2K as a daily driver in the winter, probably seeing 2-3days of use a week. I think I have just about ruled out getting a beater, and will probably not get a new set of rims(I will use my stock 02 rims for all seasons, and probably get 04+ rims in the spring)

What are some good all-season tires that will do well in Chicago style winters?

I've been thinking about the Kumho ASX's anyone try those?

OR has anyone used a winter tire that does not squirm on dry pavement?

Looking for all options here.

Input is appreciated, thanks!

For two years, I've used Firestone Lemans **** (don't know exact ones). They've been 10x better than the Blizzaks I had first.

These tires worked great in cold rain, standing snow, snow conditions, and basically all situations except ice/sleet conditions. The first winter with these tires, I couldn't drive 3 days of the season, last year, I was out 2 days of the season.

Those days were so bad that I had my wife in her AWD car call into work. Also, the wear on these tires is almost non-existent. They've lasted me so long with so many miles on them, that I think they'll outlive my car.

Anyway, I'll have the exact tire name for you tomorrow....they weren't very expensive either.

I have the the Kuhmo ASX's and well they didnt even last in the summer. All summer i could count how many times i hit vtec and i never peel out . They have about 3000 miles and look like they have 300,000. They dont stick in the cold. I am not at all satified with this tire. Next summer i may try the toyo T1s Ultra Performance. Or at work we sell some real good Michelin all season tires there only $110 each so i might just pick those up. These would probably be a better choice i was told that the tread pattern was made for rain and snow.

i was looking into the dunlop winter sport M3...supposedly pretty good according to the people in the tires sections, and tirerack.com has good user reviews of it. i think they're like $108/$116 each for front/rear.
