If i had a shop, I'd make the customer sign a legal doc stating that they have up to 7 business days to come pick up their stuff. After that, it is considered abandoned and becomes my property to do what I wish with it. They would sign this and get a copy when paying for their product/service.

Tuff luck, next time yo blow your motor, take it to another shop so you can post another tread like this on the inter-web.

If you had a shop and made me sign something like that AND didn't answer/return phone calls or were open on the days and hours stated AND threw away my motor that I couldn't retrieve in 7 days because of our business practice, you'd have an invoice for 3x the worth of the motor from me, payable in 3 business days.

The invoice would be sent by registered mail.

I don't know splatter85 from the guy next to me on the airplane I'm on...but with all the history of the majority of tuning shops in Chicagoland area since 1992, I'll side with the customer first.

I agree with a lot of the stuff Urmil says cause I've seen this kind of stuff happen before. I've also swapped motors in my garage for people and then they never showed up to pick up their old motors. It's a shitty situation for both sides. I remember calling those people so many times and none of them ever came to pick them up. Those motors stayed in my garage for like a couple of years. I can tell you one thing though, if somebody didn't pick up an S2K motor I definitely wouldn't throw that thing away, that's for damn sure.
