Where oh where to live?
I've spent the past three days touring around Chicago looking for a place to live and so far like the following areas:
Rogers Park
Wicker Park/Bucktown
South Loop- Museum Place
Olde Town
And I really like Evanston but the taxes are too high for my palate.
So far my fave is South Loop and Bucktown. Does anyone have any thoughts on these areas? We want to stay in the city (since we've had our fill of suburbia) and are still undecided as to living in a hi-rise condo, low rise or town home. Since our budget is $400-600k, that will be pushing the town home limit while still be close to the lake and parks.
Any opinions?

NO BURBS!
Burbs by definition to me is a house with 2.2 kids, dog, cat, SUV, Home Depot and a Chiles within 2 miles.
Burbs are lovely, but we just want something with more of a metro feel.

Damn, I wish I had $600K to spend on a new house.
Who am I kidding? I'd just buy more cars.
I can't really help list differences from those neighborhoods. However, nothing jumps out at me and says "Don't move THERE!"
I'd pay the extra cash for a private garage which basically means townhouse. That's me, your needs are probably not the same as mine.
Good luck with the hunting.

i wish i had that much to spend on a house too, but i'd probably just spend it on cars as well, call me paranoid or whatever, but i'd definately look for something with a private garage as well.
