Leave a Post to Help the UMW Forums Understand why we seem to have a Problem getting Folks together for a Paid Event So close to our own area.

The MidWest needs our help

Thanks: Fred

Where's the "I already have an obligation on that day" option?

Though you are kinda crazy.

Being a formerly active member in the Southern California forum I can tell you it is the drive. Local events that are close to many peoples houses always attract more people.

3 hr drive * 2 = 6 hr drive. 6 * 70 = 420 miles / 28mpg = 15 gal * 3.50 = $53

To a degree, that's true. Other than the dragon events, the vast majority of meets are attended by people within an hour of the meeting spot, which makes Chicago/Milwaukee the main locale. I'm not sure if that's isolated or the norm, but the Chicagoans have generally been loathe to go much outside the greater Chicago/Milwaukee area.

I'd hope $53 wouldn't discourage someone who can afford a $500-600 monthly car payment and all the other associated costs of owning a sports car. I understand your point, but it shouldn't drive that decision.

Prior plans, purely. Your only an hour tops from me, as soon as it was Aug 5th I couldn't attend...I'm always looking for a meet/event, I wish we could have more.
