Track Day event Grattan Speedway
Yes, it's the weekend after the dragon.
The Audi club is hosting a Driver Education event at Grattan. Information can be found here:
http://www.audiclubmi.org/
(Click on Events on the left side.)
They will have instructors for beginners. The cost is $295 total for both Saturday and Sunday. That also includes dinner Saturday night. You can add Friday if you are experienced enough to fall into the "Advanced" category. Friday is an additional $95.
In order to register, you must join the Audi Club of America. A one year membership costs $40.
There is no online registration. The best way to register is to call: 262.567.5476
I have registered for the event, and plan to leave Friday night the 28th, spend Friday and Saturday night at a hotel near the track, and then drive home Sunday night.
(MAN! I'm going to put a LOT of miles on cars in April. )

I just found more information about the event.
I am planning to drive my Z06, so if anyone is planning on running an S2000 without a roll cage, you should call to verify the requirement.
Vehicles with factory roll hoops and/or deployable roll over protection will not be allowed.

hmm..very tempting...but...
rollbar required + $295 + $95 = more track time on other times..
i think i will have to pass this one.
unless i get a rollbar soon.
we'll see.

If you do get a rollbar, be sure to check at the various club sites or call the clubs with whom you wish to run to get their roll bar requirements.
By example, the BMWCCA Milwaukee chapter requires a full competition roll cage meeting SCCA "competition" specifications (not SoloII). The Alfa Romeo club events have the same requirements.
Does anyone know which rollbars for the S2000 meet SCCA requirements?

An Elda would work for that rule, it does not need to welded in. You just have to pass the broomstick test. The elda will pass the broom unless you're really tall.
NASA does not require aftermarket roll bars in s2000's and boxsters.
