Totalled Car - insurance help

I'm sorry to hear about the accident Casey. And after all that work on the oil cooler.
You need to push back on them. They want to close the claim, but they want to do it for the least possible ammount of money. You have to argue / fight them. Don't accept their low-ball offer. Negotiate with them, and stand your ground!
Tell them that you want them to replace the car with the aftermarket parts if they are unwilling to pay on the claim. That may help motivate them to settle and show that you aren't willing to back down.
Given the amount of money involved, you should seriously consider hiring a lawyer. I (as a complete layperson and general moron) believe you have a strong case with the email.

Thanks Harry and Pete. I'm not familiar with chubb, but I imagine I should get familiar very soon!
Also it turns out this is a small world. My friend and attorney who closed my house with me a few years back referred me to his brother at state farm. That is why I'm with them. Turns out the brother is now an executive director at state farm. I have been in contact with him, so I feel between the two brothers I will be able to come out with a reasonable settlement

Thanks gentlemen. Harry, I'm disappointed I never got to do a nice write up on the oil cooler. That was one of the coolest things that was done to the car (considering the hoops I had to go through, and dumping 4 qts of oil everywhere). Thanks again for everything you did for that process

I work for a name brand insurance (if your interested in which one, PM me) and we do not cover aftermarket parts. We basically insure you on an OEM basis. We do have a $1000 in aftermarket parts coverage but that will be the limit. You can expand stero equipment and tape (yes tape) coverage.
