I like devildust's comment, too bad they were not shot. A girl I went to school with had her car broken into and car stereo stuff stolen many times. So one night her husband goes outside because he heard or saw something. Took a couple shots at the guys, hit one, killed another as they were running away. Many people in the community fought for the man protecting his belongings. He's serving some time in jail right now but with the law changes of the open carry law, they are trying to reopen this case and get a shorter sentence. The parents of the kids that were shot we're so sad and said "oh our kids are so great and didn't deserve this". B.S. they were out stealing other peoples things they worked for.

If someone is on my property trying to steal something its fair game imo.

Actually it's not... in lawyer talk you can only use that kind of force (shooting someone) if you are about to be attacked to protect yourself (self defense). You can also use some force in order to protect your property, but you must request them to leave and only then can you use reasonable force (never serious bodily harm, i.e. shooting them).

No I haven't heard anything about the guys
But at des si your right not worth going to jail we should chloroform them and bury them alive in one of the scrap s2000 and make a tube so we can give them food and water so they last longer =)

^ your 100% correct. You shoot someone on your property for breaking into your house, car, ect and they make it alive be ready to be sued You see this stuff in the news all the time. Is it right or fair NO its not but its the crazy world we live in. If someone broke into my house I would protect my family and do what ever and pay for it later rather then have to watch or see "what" could happen.

That's why this guy is in jail right now. To make the scenario worse is that he shot at them while they were running away. They were outside of his house. After he shot them, he just went inside like nothing happened and went to bed. I thought the story was great and the kids got what they had coming because they are worthless trash. The law on the other hand protected the thieves somewhat and now the shooter has jail time.

Can I get a thieves hunting license in Texas or Florida? Get my gun, put out my bait, (s2000) and wait in the bushes for dirty low life's. Can someone borrow me their garage so I can string them up and gut them? Just kidding of course, but it would be nice.

Not suggesting that I'm against Homestead Protection laws, but the law protecting property owners and renters put into this situation have not stopped car theft in either TX or FL.

All its done is to encourage car thieves to come packing guns themselves with an extra man to watch the door in case the homeowner does come out guns blazing. The other thing its done, its increased in lawsuits against property owners.

Many come out the house with guns prior to calling 911. Lawsuits have been filed and settled because successful arguments based on the notion that the property owner's intent and priority was to harm and maim rather than protect.

In short, the law does no good in FL and TX. It may have even made things worse for the home owner.
