Storing your car for winter?
I was going to post this in another thread, but because WI has such unusual winters that include ultra low temperatures, humid weather, tornados (last year WTF), and intense snow...I thought id post it in here.
Here is what Im doign to store my car. Some may have ideas or better products they use, but here is what I do/use.
I lay a tarp down where ill be parking my car (helps to prevent moisture for appreaing on the bottom of your car if your ontop of dirt/concrete)
I jack the car up on jack stands (to keep the weight off of the supsension and tires)
I remove my aftermarket wheels and put on my stock wheels
I keep a window slightly cracked (so moisture buildup can escape from the car, I put a screen in my window with some tape so no furry rodents can get in)
I put 5w-30 Mobil1 oil in so I can randomly start the car up over winter (usually once a week)
full tank of gas
a fresh wash of the entire car, inside and out
and last but not least...an OEM Honda Car cover
That is all

Here is a winter checklist I found a couple years ago, here on this site. I don't have the name of the person who posted it to give him/her credit. But here is the list-
1. Change the oil and filter, unless you are still within the

its bad. i believe the engine wont reach the right temperature, its better to start it once in the spring rather than a few times in the winter. starting the car is probably the worst thing you can do to your engine.

I agree strongly with roflitzjinno, but many people insist on starting once a month. I have also had good luck with the dryer sheets.
OEM wheels with 45 lbs of air in them have held up really well for me over the winters, just remember to let out some air come spring.

in that case, do i have to do any other internal work besides removing the battery and blocking off the intake (in case of critters)?
btw, i have 4000 miles and still have the break-in oil @ 30% life... should i change it or leave it?
from all the threads ive read, im leaning towards leaving it..
*i stored my car today too btw* T^T
all i did was
-wash/ wax
-45 psi tires
-mouse traps everywhere
-steel wool in exhaust
-blocked off intake
-removed battery
-cracked the windows
-dryer sheets in car/ trunk
am i missing anything?
