Oh, and having a V1 stolen in the past, if you call Valentine, they will have your serial number on file from your purchase if you didn't record it yourself.

Very shocked to have read this. Never felt I had to lock things up when I attended any meets. Hopefully this get righted very quickly.

I've been very trusting at S2ki meets. For 4 years of meets, I've left sight of my car countless times at meets with my radar detector in sight and my top down because I trusted that people were there to socialize and be part of the community. To whoever took these items, please return the items via Harry and rethink joining the community. Having a group of friends who can help you with your car, go on group drives, and share a nice meal with is worth a lot more than what you can get from those stolen items.

BTW, I think I "stole" a socket wrench extension because I found one in my tool bag and don't remember having a Craftsman one.

This is truly shocking news, I can't believe our community has come to this.

Keith and Urmil's generosity over the years to the UMW is unmatched by anyone, for someone to have stolen from them especially is unforgivable in my book. Very sad day indeed.

This is very unpleasant to hear. That was my first meet that i was able to come to and chill with you guys and now because of some one else s greed and ignorance, everyone is going to be constantly looking over there shoulders.

i feel that is going to have a pretty negative effect on the general vibe of future meets.

I hope who ever did this realizes that they have spoiled everyones fun. not cool.

I was shocked to see this thread, and even more shocked when I read all the posts.

My sympathies go out to those who have lost any items. While I agree that this is very unacceptable and very unfortunate, this will not deter me from attending meets in the future. If something like this disrupts meets, then the "bad guys" have won.

I hope it does serve as a reminder to watch out for your own stuff and for the stuff of others. I have to believe that there are far more "good guys" than "bad guys" in this community. If all the "good guys" are keeping an eye out for suspicious activity -- instead of being ignorant to the possibility that something like this can happen -- then maybe any future incidents can be prevented.

Damn, this is sad that things are getting stolen out of peoples cars when the owners are right there. THis is the one reason why it is hard to own nice things/cars/parts/etc. Theives are everywhere and they lurk around. Sorry to hear about your loss guys. I don't recall seeing anyone near any of the cars when I had left. Shady people will get what they deserve. I'll keep my eyes posted.

Man this sucks. A man offers a house and aid with work and he gets his items stolen. I was planning on setting up a meet come spring to my house so we could grill etc. But this is for sure not going to happen, because you can't trust anyone anymore! Urmil hope things get sorted out!

Yeah...I agree with the sentiment. In the past, the UBAB's were typically the community's largest BBQ meets that I would host in the Spring and in the Fall.

I've slowed up on hosting them in the past few years due to personal reasons, but was really hoping to bring it back with a vengence this year. In fact, through Keith's BBQ, I was completely convinced of the fact that I'd start hosting them again.

At this point, I'm unsure whether I want to have a bunch of strangers over anymore. We'll see.

In anycase, I hope we don't change our mode of meeting much...I'm sure there will be more scrutiny and distrust for one another at meets from here on out. I don't think we'll get over that, but maybe it's a good thing.

In all honestly, I'm kicking myself for leaving the opportunity for this to happen. I wish I was more vigilant for keeping an eye on my stuff. It really sucks that I had to learn my lesson this way. It really sucks that a lesson had to be given at all.... the worst part of it is that it disrupts my faith in people to be good .

Thats like saying you wont ever fly again because terrorists blew up some planes... We can't fear these people we just need to either catch them in the act or protect ourselves from this happening again... PLEASE don't stop having meets, i love meeting new s2k guys, so far it has been one of my favorite communities, without the s2k crew i would just be driving another car... (a damn fun one, but still)

This really sucks. I wanted to host a meet soon too. . . . if people can't trust anyone else or even suspects those in attendance at future meets, then it seems like all future meets will have a much darker tone to them. And that's NOT what we as a community would want to see. Nobody needs that, and it's that type of mixture that could spark fights, which I think would be even more unfortunate.

Unfortunately, I think Urmil is right that we will never get over this. I've always locked my car when I go out, but I left mine open at that meet as well. I can't imagine how pissed off I'd be if I found even the simplest thing missing.

hecash, you got a big heart. And while I agree that this would be the safest way to resolve the matter, I would agree with others that anonymity should not be held. Whoever did this should be banned from this community permanently!

Paul
