Default Southeast MI people?

Hi, I am looking to buy an S2k and will be moving to southeast MI to work for Visteon. I know how the quality of roads are there (been there for two summers), but I'd like to ask those that live there:

1. what's it live driving the s2k in Detroit winters?
2. Is the s2k your daily driver?

Thanks,

Mikhal

Do you drive your S2k in the winter then?

I guess the only thing to do against the salt is to get the underbody sprayed?

OK, the road is not that bad. I drove my S2K when I still have it. Even in the winter. Of course, I have snow tires for my S2K. (long story).

It is highly recommanded not to drive your S2K here in the winter. (you will look pretty dumb with 6 inches of snow on the ground).

here is the prove.
My BMW is cover in the snow and my brother's Subaru is outside also.

so most people would suggest not to have an S2000 for their daily driver in SE Michigan?
Aw man, I'm really bummed, I like the idea of a convertible + 2 seater + killer track/auto-x racer. =)

Anyone know what is the automobile tax in Michigan?
Plus, what are some good delerships around the Detroit/Dearborn/Ann Arbor area?

Thanks,

Mikhal

Although Michigan winter's seem to be less and less severe each year, I would not recommend the S2000 as a daily winter driver. I know there are folks who do drive it daily and who would disagree. Assuming you can garage the S2000, I buy a second car - a POS car (piece of shit) for bad weather driving and save the S2000 for decent weather.

As for dealers - Victory Honda of Plymouth and Howard Cooper in Ann Arbor are two that I've had good experiences with.

How bad are the winters... can someone give me an idea? I'm not to worried about the snow, cause enough people on the board has proven that the car can be driven through snow given the proper tires...

what I am looking for is damage due to winter weather.... how often are the roads salted? Is there rust preventive measures that can be taken? Will the snow scratch the paint, how often does it snow, months? ... that sorta things.

Thanks guys! You've been great help!

the salt trucks will usually come by when your around and throw the salt at the side of your car. and repeat that every time there is a forcast for snow. so u can judge from that

so even if it is light snow, there will be salt?
keeping the car garaged should help a lot, right?

Thanks guys!
