Default Soft Top Removal/Installation

A couple weeks ago, my car is parked downtown (Milwaukee) and at the end of the night I see that someone has taken a razor to my plastic window. I'm assuming it was some punk on a vandalism streak since I can't think of anyone that hates me (enough) to do that to me.

I just bought a soft top of a 2002 with frame, motors, top, and glass window. Now I won't have a plastic window to cut anymore, and the convenience of no wear on the rear window.

The thing is, I can't find any write ups on the removal or installation of the complete soft top. Has anyone in the area ever done a removal or installation that is willing to help out? Or does anyone know of any write ups? I'm perfectly fine doing it myself. Thanks in advance guys.

There's detailed instructions for a Robbins top on here (with a glass window) that should be able to answer most of your questions.

EDIT - Here ya go:

Good luck dtn. Looks to be quite the task. I'll stick to fluid changes myself.

I have helped another owner remove his top. It is a big job and as I recall kind of a pain in the ass. When it comes to the actual removal and installation (the heavy lifting part) you will no question need another person if not two to help finagle it into the correct position without doing any damage to the top or the car.

Good luck!

Thanks for the support guys. I actually swapped tops today. And it did end up being quite some work. It took me a good six hours of labor between my friend and I. It wasn't as hard as I was expecting, but some aspects definately tested my patience.

So the top is on and fully functional. But now my question is, (to 2002-up owners) there is a strap dangling from each side about at the top of the rear window, what does that do and where was I suppose to attach that? Thanks again guys.
