S2000 MEET at CCS Design school OCT. 8
Honda R&D is sponsoring a second S2000 design project, this time at COLLEGE for CREATIVE STUDIES in Detroit, MI. The students will take 16 weeks to produce styling proposals including sketches and scale clay models for what a next-gen S2K may look like.
As part of their research activity, the students will do what every R&D team does first: meet and talk to the actual customer...that's where you come in.
Honda R&D would like to invite members of the S2000 community to show their enthusiasm and S2000's at a meet SATURDAY, OCT. 8 from 10am-1pm at CCS (201 E. Kirby, Detroit, MI 48202-4034).
The students will be able to discuss your S2000 experience and reflect it into their design proposals which will be reviewed by R&D members at the end of the semester.
Details:
SATURDAY, OCT. 8 from 10am-1pm
10-11a Arrive, meet/greet, check out cars, photos
11-12 Brainstorm/discussion with students
12-1 Sandwiches and sodas
PARKING/Display space : we will use the circular driveway in front of the industrial design building...bring your cameras! Limit will be 20 cars. A more detailed map is forthcoming pending a final car/head count.
Please post if you can attend and I will update with more details as I know them.
Thanks!
Mike

If I may add from my experience at ACCD as a student and CCD as an alumni:
This is not an engineering study guys, it is a design (styling) study. Chances will be slim that we will see any "2dn Gen S2000" in the results, but we will eventually see the students take the info we give them as well as their personal take and create models that will represent the mesh of our info, formal training in proportion and their style.
To assist, think about what you like about the Honda S2000 exterior and Interior. Forget the supurb handling, the fantastic engine and the kick ass exhaust note. Concentrate on the details that make your heart race by LOOKING at the car such as the flat swelling fenders, the peak and creases int he sheetmetal and the union the car has in plan view, the long dashed axle and low cowl (as examples)
Love or hate the tail lamps? Why?
Keep or trash the tight and private cockpit?
Do we still love the simplicity of the interior?
These are the things that would help the students create "their idea" of the next gen S2000.
Hope this helps.
