I haven't had any problems when I was out in the burbs. Only in Chicago. I had my plate showing in the windshield on one of my previous cars and got one.

Everytime I was ticketed I was parked on a city street, never was I pulled over for it.

I had something similar to that previously. My plate was hinged at the top. I want something that looks more clean. I'm going to order the manual kit this week.

I see in your pic above you use the tow hook. I drilled a huge hole in my plate off center so I could screw the plate in behind the tow hook. it's free and serves dual purpose. I only do this while parked though, you also have to conform the plate to the bumper =not too pretty but no tickets.
