Prepping vehicle for sale...
Just thought Id ask some opinions around here. As soon as I go pick up my new car I bought in California, I most likely will be putting my S on the market. I say most likely because Im not 100% sure yet. This car is too much fun and I have plenty of storage and Im in a good enough position financially where I do not need to sell at the moment. Also, this is not a FS thread. Im just looking for some opinions as what someone looks for when buying a car like ours.
My question is to some of you when you were buyers, would you prefer to see a car with the imperfections and get the car for a cheaper price or would you rather buy a car that has all the imperfections freshly painted? My fear to fix my scratched bumpers is that a potential buyer will think that I painted them to hide something. If I do decide to freshen her up, would before and after pics help?
Anyone have any good experiences with a good body shop on the southwest side as well. Just in case I decide to paint bumpers.
Thanks

When I look at cars to buy, I look past the surface imperfections and look deeper to signs and clues to past abusions e/damage. I look under the car for signs of frame scraping, dents, fluid leaks, rust. I also ask a lot of question about the cars past. Service history and records if any. I hate it when I get answers likes, "never any problems" "it was like that when I bought it" "the previous owner did that" "i don't know". I prefer being told of all the small imperfections up front then to have to find them during my inspections. Whenever I find things that the owner obviously knew about and didn't tell me, its a a tipoff that they are trying to hide things both large and small.

Thanks guys. Although I am tempted to sell it, its hard to let go. I have maintained this car very well mechanically and have receipts to prove it. Just have my front bumper pretty scratched from being low and some debris on highway. Rear just got scratched this weekend. Its hard to keep these cars paint clean especially with the 294 construction going on. If I do decide to paint them ti will be to keep it long term. If ever the time does come to sell, I can always take pics before the paint to show it wasnt as bad as one might think.
