My soft top won't go up
I can't figure this out guys. Need some help. I have now manually put the top up, but I still need help to figure this out. It worked fine when I put the hardtop on in September and now I can't hear the motors running or nothing. No blown fuses. What else could it be. Can the roof switch go bad? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dustin

If you have a multi-meter to check voltages you might be able to find where the circuit is broken... That's about all I can give ya. Otherwise, I suppose you could pull up your center console and check the connection to your switch. A multi-meter would be able to check that. Sorry I can't be of any further help...

Thanks for the reply. As far as using the multimeter, I have one, but where should I check. I just used a test light and stuck it the switch that when you have the OEM hardtop on and it lit up. The question with that is, how much voltage to it. It barely lit the tiny test light bulb and did it like a dimming switch. Just gradually lit up, but like I said, not very bright. I manually put the top up for now, but this is driving me insane.

1. Not having the top go up isn't as bad of a problem as not having it go down.
2. It is unlikely for the wiring or switch to go bad.
3. I would check the fuses. I don't remember where the fuse(s) for the top are located, but there is a fuse panel under the dash on the driver's side, and one under the hood on the passenger side.
BTW -- Did you make sure you had the ebrake on? Since the top won't move unless the handbrake is set.
I never had a hardtop, but is there an interlock that prevents the soft top from operating while it's on?

Check the most obvious things first:
1. E-brake is up when trying to put the soft top up)
2. Check for blown fuses (which you said you already did).
3. Nothing is physically impeding the top from being pulled up by the motors (if you're putting the top up manually with little effort, I'd doubt there's anything in the way).
If it still doesn't work, now check the things that are a bit less likely:
1. Top motors...it's not likely that both motors burned out, so you should hear or have a power draw if one is still working (voltmeter is good here). Put the leads on the circuit at the fuse box. If there's a power draw but no motor noise, then you may have a/some blown motors. If voltage stays at/around 12 or 13V, then the motors are fine.
2. If the motors are fine, it's likely some plug came loose, or some wires may have been cut. You'll have to take the interior panels off to check the wiring and connections.
3. Roof switch...checking the switch can be easy. Find some other S2K owner and see if he/she is willing to take off their center console cover so that you cna plug your wiring into their switch.
If you can't figure it out and want more help and willing to come down to me, I can give you a hand. The plus side of it is, regardless of what's wrong, if you need parts to fix whatever is wrong, I'll most likely have it (ie. top motors, wiring, connectors, roof switch, and fuses).

Ebrake on. Fuses good. Wiper fuse good. Plug is connected under pass side false glove box. A question I have now Luder is when I did a search for how to manually put the top up it said disconnect said plug on pass side. Did that and it really took a lot of effort to get the top up. I was pulling so hard I was worried about ripping, bending and just generally screwing up the top. I'm gonna multimeter the under hood fuses today and post my findings. Thanks for the answers and Luder I may be taking you up on that offer one weekend

just mulitmetered the P2 connectors behind both seats. Nothing. So I'm guessing it's lack of power before those. Off to Advanced Auto so get some fuses and just try changing them. Wiper fuse is good because the wipers work

As a side, the soft top will go up and down manually. It'll be hard because the top is still connected to the motor. Just make sure it doesn't feel like it's snagging anywhere.
If it's hard and 'linear', you're fine.
