Really sorry to hear of your loss. The parts will show up though. That is for sure. Your parts were pretty unique and will be hard to miss. Don't worry. Hope you get everything straightened out with your insurance company. Good luck with everything!

Overall he was very impressed. I figure this would be a lot faster than just about any other method, cell or lo jack, no 3rd party to get involved. Just call the police and give them the address. When it comes to car theft, time is a HUGE factor, the sooner you know its gone and the sooner you know where it is, the best chance of getting it back in one piece.
The biggest problem I can see with the pet tracker is the safe zone can only be made to your house. So if you go out, park somewhere, the device would be worthless no? But it would be great for having at home, that is where the car spends most of it's time.

Unless you are spending the night somewhere else, it's rare that you don't keep an eye on your car or leave it alone for more than an hour or two. Lets say you go shopping or something for 30mins to an hour, if its gone you can track it right away. Also if you are anywhere away from your car, you can ping the device from your smart phone and know that its still where u left it, huge plus. Having your home as the safe zone is the only real place you need it, if someone moves it while ur sleeping, you will know right away and call the cops. Time is the biggest factor here, you really only have less than 24 hrs to get the car back in one piece or with minimal damage. This device just seems the fastest way to recover it.

Matt, my CR is for sale if you are interested in a low miles car without a/c or radio. Another option is to buy a daily and build your old car into a semi dedicated track car. I have some pieces off my 06 that I don't need for my track car (most of the interior). (This post sounds self-serving, but I'm really trying to help).

I'm not entirely certain those bigger cars you are considering would give you the joy that the S2000 has given you. They probably wouldn't for me, but I'm entirely too obsessed with S2000's. You could consider an RX8 if you didn't mind the shitty gas mileage (or had a daily). No one really steals thoughs afaik. I happen to like the BMW 135i which you can find used in your price range. The new 370z is also pretty cool. Or you could buy a cheap daily for now and wait for the Scion FR-S/Subaru BR-Z.

Does the pet tracker work off GPS, cell location, or both? If you use the cell phone idea it would work even if it couldn't acquire a GPS signal, ie a warehouse, unless it couldn't acquire a cell signal either.

It works on GPS, check out the website for more info http://www.pettracker.com/pet-gps

The cell phone is a great Idea, but it's just not instant which I think is just so crucial. With the pet tracker, you could ping it every 5 mins if you wanted to anytime you go out lol. Plus I'm pretty sure it tracks the route, so even if they took it to a warehouse, its going to give you the route that the car was taken, still leading you to the end location.

Yes I have confirmed. That it does track for 30 min after the device has been moved from its tracking zone. And from what I understand You can continue tracking in increments of 30 min each time.. I have to agree with Jesus that the first mins are the most crucial. Since theives are most lickly start to part out the car immedialty, the device would be handy to pinpoint where the unit is.

Some cons (not too bad)

Its 8 bux a month, but 100 dollars a year to know where your vehicle is at all times , is kinda worth it
This is not an alarm (however im sure one could be installed, some how, to trgger <- not sure here)
You would have to setup the most annoying ring tone ever exsisted , to know that the device has been moved out of track zone.

Hmmmm , this actually is not a bad temp/long term solution. Its an after the fact solution however.
Since, once you receive notifcation , the device has now been moved, with out, you doing it.
Therefore, it does not deter , but you will/should be able to at least know its whereabouts.

Sorry for the loss. My S2000 was the one Honda I was comfortable driving and parking anywhere. I guess times have changed for the worse. Hopefully the parts show up locally, to trace the possible suspects.

I like this idea also! I have antitheft already. Anyone tries to pull the kpro with a car running big injectors and e85 will found out fast it will not move lol.
