I'm really sorry to hear this man.

Keep your eyes and ears out there, people. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's common knowledge how to get into our cars with soft tops. I don't know the details, but I think there are ways of starting our cars with aftermarket ECUs and things of that nature.

Im so sorry to hear!

The way they usually do it is just as kingfunk said. They get into the car, and replace the ECU with an aftermarket one most the time. They have a map already on it so they can run the car. I believe at that point, any key they want to use will work, the key for that ECU or any key.

That is how the RSX gets stolen often times, most likely how this was taken too .

That really sucks man, It really pisses me off to see someones hard work and dedication be taken away like that. Most of us have put so much time and effort into our cars, and to have someone just that that away is bs. I wish nothing but the worst to the scum that took your car. I know of 2 other cars that have been stolen this year already, makes me so paranoid now. I hope your insurance settles everything for you soon

I don't feel safe anymore unless my car is parked in the garage. Even then if someone really wanted it they could get into my garage... times are getting cray!

Geeze.. this is awful sorry to hear this.. I hope this gets resolved soon.

We need to get a few engineers together to make an app that resides in your car (hidden) on a small gps device.. When engaged if the car is moved within certain degrees of those coordinates, (hidden) horns go off that are battery opereated (also hidden) .. And this gps resides in a place, it would take a few hours to get through.. Also if for some reason this app/gps unit loses power auxillary alarms are triggered. This could all be tracked via your phone or comp.. just thinking out loud.. I mean an ipod is a hundred bux , some hidden battery , wires , and the software is not tedious.. How much could something like this cost? Is this how lojack works? I know onstar has some of these features..

Hmmmmm I need a apple apps for dummys book..

This sounds like a great idea. I have a friend that has developed applications for iOS, I'll talk to him and see if there is anything we could do.

A simple fuel switch that cuts power to the fuel pump would work. Unless they are towing the car. You can hide that switch anywhere in your car. And if the car was driven away, you know it was someone you know.

Very sorry to hear about the car.

These threads are depressing! So sorry to hear about this.

As far as the security system goes, Directed makes something similar to what ScrapDog is describing. It might cost a pretty penny and wouldn't be foolproof (seems like nothing is), but at least it's currently available to purchase.
