Default must have for caravan

I recommend a 2-way radio when we do our cruise or caravan...I learned this through our little caravan to speedquest....

I agree, especially with the way some of you guys drive. It'll also be good for those who don't have radar detectors and can be informed of a cop in the area.

I hate group drives with some S2000 owners. There is always some asshole going 115MPH.

If some cop wants to be a cock, its nothing for them to pull over the people in the back.

Its that way with any group of car enthusiasts. One time a bunch of us MN people were caravaning to the dragstrip (back in my Talon days) and a few guys insisted on going 100 mph+ weaving in and out of orange construction barrels.

OK, THIS is why I don't lead group drives anymore.

No matter WHAT I do, it's wrong. I had some people who didn't know where they were going passimg me because I was going too slow, while other people were falling behind.

What could I do differently?

2-Way radios are a good idea on paper, but realisitcally are worthless in the cabin of an S2000 with the top down at anything over 20MPH.

IPASS units would be a good idea of something to pickup before the next caravan on the tollroad.

Also, for those that want to pass the leader, I tend to get into the right lane and slow down well in advance of an exit or turn so everyone can get caught up and no one misses the turn. If you go flying by me, don't be surprised when you see me going up the next exit ramp.

All we have to do is drive a decent speed right behind each other and not weave in and out of traffic. No one will get left behind and people will not miss exits this way. I never drive like that, but I found myself weaving in and out just to try and keep up. I kind of felt like and idiot afterwards, but oh well. Anyway, it was nice to meet some of you

I thought you did fine pete

I think that in any caravan, it's to be expected that there will be some stragglers. With the amount of traffic we ran into I'm surprised we did as well as we did.

2-way radios may help. There were times when I think well, I can slow down the right lane so that the people in the middle lane can move up and get in front of me, etc. Radios would help there. Anyone work for motorola and can get us a deal?

But then again, as a somewhat agressive driver, I think it would be good for others to downshift, drop the hammer, and pass.
