The info in my previous post is wrong. What actually happens is if your car is hit by another car that is covered on your collision policy and you get hit with whatever deductible you have there.

I'm going through this with another car where somebody tagged our bumper in a parking lot and didn't leave a note. I just got around to dealing with it today and they are telling me that I'll have to pay my collision deductible.

I could swear that there was no deductible when my other car got hit and the guy drove off. Maybe I'll have them pull up that old claim and confirm.
