The winters are messy, but no worse than any other Midwestern city. They do get the occasional "big blizzard" (foot of snow), and the temps do sometimes get to that dangerous level of -10 with -40 windchills.

It's definitely liveable. Get good snow+ice tires like the Blizzak WS60, or just buy a cheap winter car with 4WD/AWD.

There isn't a China town in MN but there's plenty of Flee markets in St. Paul and a lot of asian stores down on Nicollet in South Minneapolis.

For Sushi i usually go to Sushi Tango in Oakdale or Bennehana. If you like southern food i recomment Dexies off of Dale and Grand in St. Paul.

You just have to get use to winter. Its not that horrible like everyone think it is but i have been living my entire life here so who am I to say. One thing about Winter though, You'll hate MN drivers. one little snow fall and every acts as if its their first time driving.

^ Same in Chicago, lol.......people turn into idiots. It's not that they just drive slower and more cautiously (like they should), they just do bone-headed things.

I think they drive more recklessly in the winter than in the Spring/Summer seasons, you'll see a broken down/peice of crap drive by you doing 30 more mph than you when everyone (including you and the AWD truck/car beside you) is doing 10 below speed limits and slipping all over the place.

Update: I decided to stay in Indy after a last minute offer from a local company was too good to pass up. Looks like I won't be moving up north anymore, at least not for now

Thanks for all the tips! At least now I have a better idea of what MSP is like.

You should come up here sometime this summer to see what you missed.

Well maybe not, you may not want to go back to Indy.
