I'm in the final stages of negotiating an offer with a company in MSP, and I was wondering if there are any members in the Twin Cities area who could help me with some ideas to where I might want to live, shop, eat, etc.

Thanks!

Richard,

PM me...I have to find out what do you do that got you to move out to Indy and now to MN.

I can tell you that if you like small town UMW, then take a look at Detroit Lakes, MN. I spent a good part of the summer there for a client project. I couldn't get past how nice an area that is to raise a family.

The suburbs around minneapolis are great if you have a family. Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Edina, are a few of the bigger ones of the top of my head

I recommend St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Crystal, New Hope, Plymoth since they're near the City.

If you rather live in the Suburbs then Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Lakeville, Farmington.

Thanks guys!

Luder: PM on the way

I'll be working in Oakdale, and my wife wants to go back to school for a nursing degree so she wants to be close to a state school. I've got 2 little kids, one is about to start kindergarten, the other is turning 2 in a few months, so I'm looking for a house. I think we're spoiled by the housing in Indy - it's really affordable for the size and I'm not sure if I could afford the same size house in a nice neighborhood.

Anyone know where to go for good sushi & Chinese food/grocery? I heard about Noodle World for groceries.

If you are going to be working in Oakdale then check out Woodbury, Stillwater, White Bear Lake, North St Paul and Maplewood. Any one of these would put you 15 to 30 min from the U of M and downtown Mineapolis/ St.Paul. With the market the way it is right now you can get into a nice house for a killer price. My kid just bought a 3 bedroom house with a 2 1/2 car garage for $159,000 and the bank paid all the closing costs.

Bloomington ... School is great for mini-mes , a few minutes from Mall of America, Tiger Sushi is also located in MOA, 15 minutes to Oakdale, nice neighborhood, Full Blown (Honda boys) shop within a few minutes, etc...

can anyone tell me if there's a china town in MSP?

any recommendations for sushi & chinese food?

and finally, is the winter really THAT bad? my wife's biggest concern is the "6-months of winter" and indy is like 5 months already...
