Me 'ats off
...officer that was kind enough to give me a pass this morning on the s/b leg of 290 just south of Woodfield.
After merging on from e/b 90, traffic sufficiently opened for me to double the posted. Not quite to Biesterfield I notice a set of lights swing into my lane about a half mile back. Blink ahead and back and the mirror and I can tell he's not quite fading into the distance like everyone else, so I move over one lane right. He's still coming at speed so I let off, down into double digit territory, and move another lane right, causing several vehicles to get in between his unimpeded line of sight with me. Still off the gas I'm now down to +10.
As soon as he comes around the traffic inbetween, he swings 1 lane right and slows to +20, and I expect him to light me up.
Instead, he swings back left and proceeds a half dozen car lengths ahead and starts to pace. As he passes, he's not looking directly at me, flashing a badge, or waggling his finger. We've now reached the last chance to swing off at Biesterfield, and I almost do it, but decide it'll look far to guilty, so I hang. He's now matching me and watching via his mirrors. By the time we reach Thorndale a Ram1500 has come running up the farthest left lane, but he doesn't move on him. In fear that he's planning to throttle back and pounce, I hop off at Thorndale.
Just to add a last drop of bile to breakfast, theres a fully marked trooper sitting atop the Thorndale exit.
