Default Lowered seat - suburbs

Thinking about lowering my seat prior to the dragon.

Two questions :

1. Anyone have an oem seat that is lowered that I can sit and or take a spin in?

2. What is the best method to lower oem seat? Last I looked it was something in the ball park of $350 for a seat rail (many years ago). Please tell me they have come up with more reasonable offerings for this simple task.

Thanks all!

I've got a BYS rail on mine, I bought it GTMotoring a few years back, I believe it was around $250.

The one issue I have with it (a few others do too) is that it only lowers the bottom part of the seat, the seat back retains its original position on the bracket. The downside to this is that the lumbar position is thrown off, you end up with the seat pushing into your back at a strange spot, it's quite uncomfortable on longer trips now.

I believe there's a DIY on here somewhere about lowering the seat with the stock rail, but I don't know where it is. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Found one - https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/506...-drivers-seat/

I don't know about the DIY, but I did have a BYS rail before I got my Pole Positions installed. I can attest to the same thing, but because I have such a tall torso, I added a little bit more of the "Detroit" lean, and it was pretty good even to the dragon and back. I will say, the BYS rail is still expensive, and sells quickly used listed $200 and up.

My preference is the BYS rail over DIY, because at the end of the day, if you don't like it, you can go back to stock and sell the rail. If you modify the seat bottom, it will be way more expensive to go back to stock.

Great info gents. I did read the DIY method awhile back. And as stated- cant go back. So for that a rail is worth the coin.

Paul where are you located?

I have a re herniated back, and in turn am very interested in the position of the lumbar support.

Thanks for offer

I have the BYS rail. The downside I noticed is that the seat travel seems reduced slightly - perhaps 1 or 2 notches.

Regarding lumbar issues, I added a pneumatic lumbar pad sold by Moss Motors:
http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewP...eIndexID=32318

It's intended for the miata, but our seats are similar in that the center perforated section of the seatback is not fixed to the seat on the sides - so you can slip the lumbar pad behind the perforated section and route the piping and pump to under the front of the seat.

I find being able to vary the amount of lumbar support over the course of a drive improves my comfort.

Casey - I'm in Oak Creek, WI PM me if your willing to drive that far north to check it out.

I also have the added lumbar supports - they are basically blood pressure cuffs. They work O.K. but leak out over time so you end up pumping them up a lot.

I think i live like 5 min from you... If you want to come sit in my car you can. I have a f1 spec type 3 that is pretty much 1 inch off the floor with custom rails. It's def totally different driving experience being that low, you can't see your front end anymore! lol
